The apprenticeship that once shaped great pipe designers is disappearing. Senior designers are retiring, and the knowledge they carried - passed down quietly over drafting tables, shutdown walkdowns, and late-night model reviews - is leaving the industry with them.
The Plant Decides is Book II of The Pipe Designer's Legacy. It goes where Book I could not: into the engine room of the running plant, into the physics that governs every routing decision before the designer makes it.
Because thinking correctly is not enough. A designer who understands responsibility but cannot recognise the signature of cavitation, predict the consequence of a pressure surge, or see why the small-bore connection on a vibrating pump is the most dangerous detail in the system is carrying only half the craft.
