In the power of children's and adolescents' imaginations lies the ability to change the way they experience the world. The metaphor a story delivers is a message sent straight to the heart. It bypasses the conscious mind and patterns of behavior on its journey to the interior world of their minds and hearts. Stories mirror their inner problems, doubts, fears and frustrations common to the process of growing up. While children and adolescents may be stuck in a particular way of seeing themselves, or trapped in a repetitive behavior, once they have seen their dilemma reflected in a story, it is as if an inner door opens and they can walk through it into a new way of perceiving themselves and the world. Growing up is hard work. Stories can help along the way, and you can be the teller of those tales for the next generation.
