The story of rooibos tea is about a special kind of tea produced in South Africa. The book provides a simple introduction to the product, including details of its history, how it grows and how it is made. Short, simple chapters take the reader through the process, from the bushes growing in the mountains to the finished dried product. The book also explains how to make the dried product into a drink and why people regard this drink as being healthy and good for treating illnesses.
This book is one of the seven books in the Made in South Africa series, by ex-school teacher turned non-fiction author Lynn Barnes. The books are aimed at younger readers and are divided into short chapters with full-colour photos and illustrations. The language is clear and accessible for both first- and second-language learners. A word help section explains more difficult terms that are relevant to the particular topic. These informative books provide excellent resource material for school projects and assignments. They are ideal for schools, libraries, home-schooling and children with enquiring minds.
