What if the life you built with love and devotion vanished in a single, heartbreaking moment?
In The Sweetest Light, memoirist Gerry Becker recounts the true story of unimaginable loss and the quiet, determined path back to hope. In 2005, a tragic plane crash in the mountains of central Idaho claimed the lives of her husband, Bill, and their two sons, Ben and Andy. In the aftermath, Gerry and her daughter Emily were left to navigate the weight of grief, the silence of an empty home, and the long road toward healing.
Blending vivid family memories, reflections on motherhood, and heartfelt stories of resilience, The Sweetest Light honors not just those who are lost but the enduring legacy they leave behind. Gerry shares moments of love, parenting, building a home, and outdoor adventure, illuminating how the deepest sorrow can coexist with the richest joy. Through shared meals, quiet hikes, and bittersweet milestones, she paints a portrait of family that is unshakable, even in absence.
This grief memoir resonates with anyone who has faced personal tragedy and still dares to find light on the other side. A tribute to love, loss, resilience, and remembrance, The Sweetest Light is both a heartfelt family memoir and a powerful story of healing.
