Every man carries something he was never taught how to put down.
This Ain't Weakness is a raw, honest look at what happens when a man finally stops performing strength and starts telling the truth.
Brian "B Mac" McGhee spent years in law enforcement watching men, including himself, mistake silence for control and numbness for peace. In this book, he breaks down the lies boys are taught early, why anger is so often just grief wearing a mask, and how real strength looks nothing like what we were sold growing up.
But understanding where those patterns came from is only part of the work. At some point, every man has to decide what he is going to do with what he now knows, and take responsibility for how the things he carries affect both himself and the people around him.
It all builds to the final chapter, Borrowed Worth, where B Mac confronts the question underneath everything else in this book:
Whose voice have you been living by? What happens when you finally start living by your own?
This is not a self-help book full of empty affirmations. It is direct, plainspoken, and built from lived experience, with reflection prompts throughout to help you sit with what you read instead of just skimming past it.
If you have ever felt like you are carrying more than you say, this book was written for you.
