Mia wants a dog, but her mom wants her to start with something easier: a plant.
Mia thinks her new plant is beyond boring, since it doesn't do anything fun, like shake a paw. But when she turns her back on it for just a moment, it eats her sandwich. Then her stuffed lion. Mia tries shutting it in the bathroom, but she returns to see "Plants are NOT boring!" scrawled in lipstick on the bathroom mirror. As Plant feeds on more and more of Mia's stuff, she wonders if there's anything she can do! When she spots the care tag inside its pot, Mia realizes that how she treats Plant matters. If she takes good care of it, maybe Plant could be a great companion after all.

Author Biography
Marie Hoy-Kenny is a writer, teacher and mother from Ontario, where she lives with her husband, two imaginative children and a mischievous poodle. Some of her favorite things include hiking, reading thrillers and going on adventures with her family. Marie has written a young adult novel, The Girls from Hush Cabin, and her short stories and poetry have appeared in several literary magazines. Her children love to be read "scary" books, so that is why she wrote this one.
Mike Deas is an author/illustrator of graphic novels, including the Sue?o Bay Adventures, the Tank & Fizz series and the Graphic Guide Adventure series. He grew up with a love of illustrative storytelling, and Capilano College's commercial animation program helped Mike fine-tune his drawing skills and imagination. Mike and his family live on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.
