by Glenna Cook (Author)
It's not every day that I'm asked to read a new book of poems by a nonagenarian, and what a treat it is! These poems affirm that age may have its cost-breaking bones, losses echoing "like the somber gong of bell"-but as long as life continues there is dancing, bright blooms of another spring, art galleries, and the heart, stuffed full of gratitude and still "restless as a kite."
-Bethany Reid, author of The Pear Tree elegy for a farm
Glenna Cook is a poet of courage and humor who frequently encounters "that silly goat" memory as she travels into the country of very old age. It is also a country of crows, chipmunks, spice-scented geraniums "glistening with rain," and other icons of the ageless present moment. These poems are calming, sustaining, and wise.
-Priscilla Long, author of Cartographies of Home
It was an honor to publish Glenna Cook's debut poetry collection when she was 80, then two more, plus a chapbook, and now that she's turned 90, we're publishing her fifth collection! Her poems are a powerful inspiration to all who wish to age with grit, grace, and a steadfast zest for life.
