Did you know that the human body has 12 cranial nerves? Did you know that each "nerve" is actually comprised of two nerves, typically left and right nerve intertwined to make the "one" cranial nerve. Vagus nerve stimulation is a precise medical procedure, has been used for a very long time, that is used to diagnose and treat a variety of emotional distress conditions in the body. It involves the utilization of a technological device to stimulate the specific nerve. It can be done manually or by the use of electrical appliances. The effectiveness of the stimulation has been tested through several clinical tests. It is tested and approved by the United States board of food and drug and drug administration to treat two different conditions.
Why is it done?
It is evident that many people suffering from epilepsy fail to respond positively to anti-seizure medications targeted in halting the frequency of seizures. The simulator is programmed to generate impulses of electricity at a controlled rate and at regular intervals through the body, depending on how much you can take. Do not attempt it on your own. As you can see, this nerve is a fairly powerful player in not just how you feel, but how you experience the world you are living in. It impacts everything from your brain to your digestion, and so much in between. This means if something "goes wrong," it can have dire consequences to your health and well-being. To check to see if it is in working order, many physicians will first begin with your gag reflex. It is often done with a cotton swab, where the doctor "tickles" both sides in your back throat. This causes most people to involuntarily gag. If not, there may be something wrong with this nerve.
