After Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI resigned from the papacy in 2013, he never stopped thinking or writing. Pope Benedict XVI was widely recognized as one of the most brilliant theologians and spiritual leaders of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. As pope, he authored the best-selling Jesus of Nazareth, and prior to his pontificate, he wrote many books that continue to remain influential for the contemporary Church, such as Introduction to Christianity, The Divine Project, God Is Near Us, and The Spirit of the Liturgy.
