What do you do when God blesses the people you would rather see judged?
The Book of Jonah ends in a surprising way. No triumphant finale. No hero's celebration. Just a furious prophet sitting beneath a dying plant, arguing with God.
In When God is Good and You Are Not, Kees Postma takes readers deep into one of the Bible's most unsettling stories. Jonah's problem was not God's judgment-it was God's mercy. A mercy so wide, so undeserved, that it exposed the darkness in Jonah's own heart.
With biblical insight, sharp observations, honesty and humor, Postma reveals why Jonah's story is also our story. It confronts our hidden resentments, our sense of entitlement, and the comforts we cling to when life does not go our way. Above all, it confronts us with a God whose compassion refuses to fit within our boundaries.
As God questions Jonah, He also questions us. What if the people you struggle to love are the very people God wants to bless? What if your greatest obstacle is not God's unwillingness to act, but your unwillingness to accept how He acts? This is a book that will challenge you, unsettle you, and ultimately draw you deeper into the heart of God.
You may come looking for Jonah. You may discover yourself.
