People of every culture and society are facing the dilemma of trauma. The traditional view of trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event. Although this definition is befitting to describe trauma, its limitations create room for confusion. How do we measure what a horrific event is? Can trauma be measured?
Because of the limited definition, many don't take the time to properly diagnose what they are feeling before identifying it as traumatic. Trauma is inevitable. We will all, at some stage, experience an unpleasing event that will trigger an emotional response. How you respond will determine how long your trauma last.
