A few hundred years in the future, humanity is gone and birds reign over the remnants of our civilization. Before our departure, through genetic manipulation and experiments in animal learning, we imbued our sapience, intellect, and language upon a select number of bird species known as the "Awakened." They were meant to be spies and laborers, but without our artificial checks and balance, they multiplied and spread, gleaned our knowledge and built their civilization upon the ruins of ours.
